Sexual Abuse Counselling & Therapist Hobart

Sexual Abuse Counselling & therapy brisbane

Sexual Abuse Counselling & Therapist Hobart Tasmania

Happy Peeps Sexual Abuse Counsellor & Therapist Hobart understands that talking about sexual assault or sexual abuse is an extremely difficult topic of conversation. Our practitioners will treat you with the highest level of care and compassion when working through counselling sessions. We understand that as a sexual abuse victim you may have never talked to anybody about what has happened to you. We understand that you may be feeling very afraid and alone, scared and traumatised and feeling overwhelmed with pain and emotion and this may be difficult for you to talk about.

Our psychotherapists are aware that this may be very emotional for you and we will provide you support strategies to cope with in the session and after the counselling and therapy session. We will help you to reduce the impact on your life by addressing any negative thought patterns and behaviours from being the victim to helping you move to a healthy and normal functioning life with healthy relationships.

What is Sexual Abuse?

• Rape
• Forced or unwanted sexual activity
• Touching without permission
• physical force or threats when a person is unable to give consent
• deliberately causing pain during sex
• assaulting the genitals
• forced sex without protection against pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Consent

• Have sex with consent as it is a healthy sexual experience
• Do not pressure your partner into having sex or performing sexual acts they do not agree to.
• Do not ignore someone if they say “No” as they have the right to say “No” even if you are married or living together.
• A person under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unable to give consent.

Affected by Abuse – How do you feel at the moment about?

• Body Feelings or Anger
• Anxiety – Depression
