How are Therapists Verified?
In addition to the qualifying exam, each prospective provider must complete a case study, assessed by a registration team and be assessed via video interview and a vigorous application process. This rigorous process results in only about 20% of therapists who apply through Happy Peeps being accepted on the platform. As part of our due diligence psychology process, we also display registration and membership information for each therapist.
How Does Choosing The Right Therapist Work?
Of course, you’ll need to develop a long-term relationship with your counsellor or therapist, so it’s essential to reach out to someone you feel comfortable contacting regularly – we’ll look at location and proximity as factors or even virtual options. Things like price points should always be clearly explained and accounted for – affordability, available dates, and maybe gender preferences. Different things make people more comfortable sitting there and talking to a professional. If any of these factors are important to you, they play a part in the installation process.
What Questions Should I Ask When I Call?
- Do you have goals or aspirations for your life, your emotional self, or your relationships?
- Are there any blocks or barriers to achieving this goal? Can you describe them?
- Are there feelings or situations that make you feel very anxious or uncomfortable?
- Do you have a clear or definite problem that you would like to address?
- When you imagine talking openly and honestly with someone, do you envision the person sitting across from you being of a specific gender or age group? Maybe you don’t have a preference; perhaps you do.
- What appointments can you accept? Do you realistically have parameters at a specific location or time of the week to access counselling hours?
- Think about the area you live in, but also the places where you work, see your family regularly, or have commitments. Your openness to sites you can visit periodically allows the admissions team to screen those places for the best people they can find for you.
- Are there any things you know would make you uncomfortable, or would you not want to go to counseling?
